Abu Hamid Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Ghazali al-Tusi al-Shafi'i was one of the leading figures of his time and one of the most famous Muslim scholars of the fifth century Hijri (1058-1111 CE). He was a jurist, theologian, philosopher, and Sufi, known for his Shafi'i legal expertise; no other Shafi'i scholar matched him in his era.
