Sutur

Manifesto

Arabic stories deserve to be seen. And read exactly as written.

Sutur turns Arabic books into manga-style pages. This is what we believe, and what we promise while we do it.

  1. The text stays the author’s.

We never rewrite the book. Every caption on every page is the original text, word for word, cut into the panels it belongs to. The pictures are our interpretation. The words are not.

  2. Arabic is written by code, not drawn by AI.

Image models misspell Arabic. So the model draws only the picture, and we set every letter ourselves, joined and right to left, in a real font. If a word is wrong, it is a bug we can fix.

  3. AI draws, and we say so.

The art comes from AI image models running on our own computer. Faces drift and hands slip, and we fix what we can. We say plainly, on every book, that the art is AI-made.

  4. Right to left is the default.

Pages and panels read right to left, and the whole site starts in Arabic. English is a guest, and a welcome one.

  5. Read the story, not the algorithm.

No ads, no tracking, no feed deciding what you see next. An account saves your place and your notes, and nothing else.

  6. Credit where it is due.

Every book names its author. Translations and old editions have owners too. We check the rights before we publish a book, and we hold back the ones we are unsure about.

  7. Open by default.

Our art and layouts are free to share under CC BY 4.0. Use them, adapt them, and say where they came from.

  8. A book is a conversation.

Readers leave thoughts and notes beside the pages: short, honest and kind. They are yours, and you can delete them any time.

“Make the old stories easy to love again.”
