Avicenna

Abu Ali al-Hussein bin Abdullah bin Al-Hasan bin Ali bin Sina, also known as Ibn Sina, was a renowned Muslim scholar and physician of Persian origin. He was famous for his work in medicine and philosophy. Born in the village of Afshana near Bukhara (now in Uzbekistan), Ibn Sina's father was from the city of Balkh (now in Afghanistan) and his mother was from a rural background.
