Rafiq al-Azm

Rafiq bin Mahmud bin Khaliq al-Umari (1867-1925) was a scholar and writer from Damascus. Born and raised in Damascus, he prepared himself for government service. He studied under two great scholars, Taher al-Jaza'iri and Salim al-Bukhari, from whom he gained knowledge and inspiration to fight against injustice and spread correct ideas. He died in Cairo.
