Shibli Shami

Shibli Shmaili (1850-1917), a Lebanese Christian and one of the pioneers of the Arab Renaissance, graduated from the Syrian Protestant College/ American University of Beirut. He then went to Paris to study medicine before settling in Egypt, where he lived in Alexandria, Tanta, and finally Cairo.
