A letter before you read
Dear reader,
Over a decade I have built things you never notice, until they break: payments, data, the pipes underneath. That work taught me one thing I now believe about everything: refusing to choose is a choice, and usually the worst one.
So one day I made a choice about something that has nothing to do with servers.
I love books. And I kept noticing how few Arabic books look and feel like they belong to today: beautiful, illustrated, easy to open on a phone, made for the reader and not for a shelf. Arabic deserves that.
That is Sutur. A place where Arabic books are pages you can see, in an order you can follow, with the original text still beside the pictures.
The first books I made were for children's questions: Why, Father? Why, Mom? Ask Grandfather. Uncle Sindbad. I do not think a good book gives children answers. I think it gives them a better next question.
A word about how the pictures are made, because you deserve to know: an AI draws them. It makes mistakes, and we check every page and fix what is wrong. I wanted to see what these tools can really do for Arabic culture, honestly, and in public.
I will get things wrong. That is why I am writing. Read a book, then tell me what is broken, what moved you, what you want next. Every message is read by me.
Life is a one-way ticket. I would rather spend it building and listening than waiting until it is perfect.
With thanks,
