Andalusian philosopher, physician and writer, born around 1105 in Guadix near Granada, and died in 1185 in Marrakesh. He served as vizier and physician to the Almohad caliph Abu Yaqub Yusuf, and his best-known work is the philosophical tale Hayy ibn Yaqzan.
