Hayy ibn Yaqzan

Ibn Tufayl

A hermit named Absal reaches Hayy's island seeking solitude, and Hayy learns human speech and finds they have arrived at the same truth by different roads. They then sail to a nearby island to teach its people, but the crowd cannot bear the plain truth.

Age rating: Ages 12 and up. Content notes: A philosophical tale of a lone child in nature, with the death of the gazelle and an animal dissection; nothing gory.
