Zadig
Zadig is exiled from Babylon and heads for Egypt, where he defends a beaten woman and is sold as a slave to an Arab merchant. In bondage his wit saves a widow from being burned and settles merchants' quarrels, until he escapes the priests of the stars and falls into the hands of a robber.
Age rating: Ages 16 and up. Content notes: A satirical tale with jealousy, injustice, slavery, a beating and a widow's burning; nothing gory.
